Data View Web Part, learn it... love it!
This is probably the coolest or most powerful component of SharePoint.  With this tool (using SharePoint Designer) you can better integrate and customize
 
Can pull data from:
  • SharePoint Lists and Libraries
  • Web Services
  • Databases (any source via OLEDB provider)
  • Server-side XML sources, including RSS feeds
  • BDC
 
The web part supports web part connections, conditional formatting and leverages XSLT for display.
 
MSFT has provided a nice (and short!) video demonstrating how quickly you can get started using the data view web part (it's the 5th item on this page, titled Build composite no-code SharePoint applications):
